Perhaps the only question remaining is where John stands among the greatest quarterbacks that have ever played the game. Statistically, John Elway ranks no lower than fourth in the categories most often used to measure a quarterback, including career passes attempted (7,250 - 2 nd) and completed (4123 - 2 nd), yards gained passing (51,475 - 2 nd) and touchdowns thrown (300 - 4 th).

Will John Elway be remembered as the NFL’s greatest quarterback? Time will tell. Should his name be part of any discussion when the topic comes up – along with those of Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Johnny Unitas, Otto Graham, Sammy Baugh and history’s other quarterback legends? There is no doubt.
